The Heart of Pennsylvania Chorus sings four-part tight harmony and is Central Pennsylvania's only women's barbershop chorus.
We rehearse year round and have a revolving repertoire. We are constantly learning new songs and we sing from memory.
HOP was established in 2000 and some of our members have been singing together since then. Our newest member joined in 2010.
We are a member of Harmony, Inc., an international singing organization of women who aim to preserve the art of four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style.
The chorus is under the direction of Dee Casteel and includes members from Sunbury, Williamsport, Milton, Watsontown, Turbotville, Muncy, Lewisburg, and Jersey Shore.
Heart of Pennsylvania has performed at various churches and nursing homes, as well as the Lewisburg Arts Festival, Slifer House, Washingtonville Community Hall, the Lutheran Synod Assembly at Susquehanna University, Central Oak Heights, the Community Theater League, and the Selinsgrove Eastern Star in the past year.
Do YOU like to sing? We are always looking for new singers and new friends. You are most welcome to visit our regular rehearsals (see "visit us" link at left) to check us out with no obligation.
If you are interested in hiring the Heart of Pennsylvania to perform at your event, please contact Bev Staman at 538-3942.
